Am I Really Fit Enough for Kickboxing?

One of the main reasons people hesitate to sign up for kickboxing is because they think they’re not fit enough. Does this sound familiar? Maybe you’re worried you won’t be able to keep up with the rest of the class or you won’t be able to do all the moves. These concerns are more common than you think. But at iLoveKickboxing, we’re committed to making sure that everyone can enjoy the fun and health benefits of kickboxing. Here’s why individuals of all ages and fitness levels should feel confident in signing up today.

Everyone Starts Somewhere

Kickboxing is a full-body workout that combines cardio and resistance training. It’s a fast way to burn fat and tone muscle, which is why so many experienced kickboxers are in really great shape. But they weren’t always that fast or strong. At some point, those people were beginners, too. And if you stay with it, you’ll be keeping up with the best of them before you know it. Give it your all, and you’ll get better and better each time.

Classes range in size (10 – 30) people in every class and there are always beginners. The instructors are friendly and will help you get acclimated, especially on your first day, where they’re by your side for each bag round. You’ll soon find that the iLoveKickboxing family supports everyone’s individual journey.

Doing the Workouts

You may have heard that kickboxing workouts are intense. That’s true, but they’re also flexible. We advise those new to kickboxing to do what they can and modify moves as needed (and we’ll even show you how). All that matters is getting your heart rate up and your adrenaline pumping as you push your own limits. In most cases, it’s better to focus on achieving your personal best rather than comparing yourself to anyone else. Remember, everyone is there for the same reasons you are: to have fun and get fit.

Here’s our general class format to help you get a better idea of what to expect.

  • 15 Minute Warm-up (Squats, lunges, ab work, burpees and more)
  • Stretching
  • Bag work
  • Partner drills
  • Conditioning
  • Cool down

Your instructor will walk you through each part of class and guide you on proper form and the necessary moves. With practice, you’ll soon be keeping pace and feel comfortable from start to finish.
